The Greater Evansville Teachers Association (GEMTA) is a group of Evansville area music teachers — mainly piano teachers — who meet once a month during the school year. GEMTA was established and expanded from a group formerly known as the KEY Society. Our goal is to improve our teaching so that we may further the experience, joy, and benefits of a musical education. GEMTA meets 10-12 times per year for educational opportunities including guest speakers, masterclasses, discussion, and more. Benefits of the association include conferences, publications, certifications, and state music competitions. GEMTA is affiliated with the Indiana Music Teachers Association (IMTA) and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). GEMTA is a not-for-profit organization.
